Punjab Government Declares Extended Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays for 2025

The Government of Punjab has officially announced an extended public holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, offering citizens an extended break to celebrate the joyous occasion with their families. This decision comes in line with the government’s commitment to facilitating religious observance and ensuring ample time for festive celebrations.

Official Eid Holiday Announcement

According to an official statement, if Eid-ul-Fitr falls on March 31, 2025, public holidays will extend from March 31 to April 4. However, if the crescent is sighted earlier and Eid is observed on March 30, 2025, the holidays will begin on March 30 and continue until April 3.

This extended break will allow government employees and the public to celebrate without disruption. Additionally, since Saturday and Sunday (April 5-6) are official weekend holidays, government offices will resume work on April 7, 2025.

Additional Public Holidays for the Last 10 Days of Ramadan

To encourage religious devotion, the Punjab government has also declared public holidays starting from March 20, 2025, allowing citizens to observe the last 10 days of Ramadan with full dedication. This initiative aligns with the government’s objective of fostering an environment where people can focus on worship, charity, and self-reflection during this sacred period.

Essential Services to Remain Operational

Despite the extended break, essential services, including hospitals, law enforcement, and emergency services, will remain functional to ensure that public needs are met efficiently.

This move by the Punjab government has been widely appreciated, as it provides citizens with a longer break to celebrate one of the most significant Islamic festivals while maintaining essential services for the well-being of the public.
